On 4th February 1923 „Czechoslovakian Car Club for Moravia and Silesia" (CAMS) was founded and as its first chairman was elected the famous businessman Tomas Bata.
In 1924, after the first difficult year, the number of members considerably grew and the Club already had organized two very succesful events.
Some searching went on for several years for a suitable racing track close to Brno. The final decision was to choose the district road from the town quarter Královo Pole to the village Sobesice for the Ist International race Brno – Soběšice.

Thanks to big promotion 54 racers took part and also a lot of visitors came to see the event. Only the weather was not so good and because that was so for several years – it became a custom to visit the race with an umbrella even when the sun was visible in the morning.
The first motorcycle race was won by the Swiss - Mr. After on Motosacoche in 3:01,9. Mr. Wetzka won the car race with Austro-Daimler in 3:01,1.
The race in 1925 attracted a lot of members from different motoring clubs and got some reputation in racing cirkels. The motorcycle race was won by Mr. Kucka with Brough Superior in 2:44,9 and the car race by Mr. Cenek Junek with Bugatti in 2:24,1.
The third year of existence was already a great success. 80 racers took 11 records, the motorcycle race was won again by Mr. Kucka ex-aequo with Mr. Turek in 2:26,0. Mrs. Eliska Junek won the car competition in 2:29,6.

In later years a special car exhibition was prepared by the Club in Brno's trade fair area, also with big succes. It founded a tradition of car exhibitions in Brno.
In 1927 55 racers took part. First on motorcycles was the Belgian racer Flintermann with FN in 2:38,9 and car competition was again won by Mrs. Eliska Junkova with her Bugatti in 2:38,3. Next year it was Mr. Tichý with Terrot motorcycle in 2:39,3 and Mr. Bondy with Bugatti in 2:28,8.

The year 1928 was also the year when circuit-racing became more and more important. Short hill climb races lost its attractivity for audiences, which demanded races more demanding for both drivers and vehicles construction. This was a reason to organize a special race on the „Masaryk circuit" and the 1929 race was to be the last hill climb race from Brno to Sobesice. This last race (the 6th) experienced extremely good weather and a huge number of records were broken. The best motorcycle was a Premier driven by Mr. Liska in 2:22,1, with the cars it was the Bugatti of Mr. Bondy in 2:01,1.

In 1930 all the experiance of the Car Club were needed to organize the first race on the Masaryk circuit. It was a big event, bigger then the Club and anyone else in Czechoslovakia had organized untill then. There were a lot of expectations and they were fullfiled in every aspect. Roads were repaired so that it became one of the best European racing circuits and already in the first year a famous european racers took part. First winner was Mr. Morgen with Bugatti. His success was seen by a great number of visitors and reporters who covered it for foreign magazines, The international success of that race proved that it is worthwhile to organize it in the future, but that is another story.

The Brno – Sobesice hill climb was revived by Brno's Veteran Automoto Club in 1974 and it continued until 1987, when the number of participants overgrew the capabilities of its organizers.
In 1999 the tradition was again re-established as a one day meeting of veteran enthusiasts. It takes place every year on the last saturday in september.
