100 years of the Brno–Soběšice hill race

On the last Saturday in September (September 28, 2024), a commemorative ride will start from the Kociánka Center to commemorate the first major motor racing event in the South Moravian region, which this year celebrates a hundred years since its first start. It was named after the places that connected Královo Pole and Soběšice and existed from 1924 to 1929. Thanks to the participation of major racers, it received high ratings, attracted many spectators and made Brno a motor racing phenomenon. It was then followed in 1930 by an event on the newly built Masaryk Circuit.
Fifty years ago – in 1974, the Brno Veteran Automoto Club renewed the tradition of commemorative rides on the original route from the 1920s. And so this year, a friendly atmosphere will reign in the Kociánka Center area and visitors will see a parade of noble motorcycles and cars. 300 vehicles will participate in the ride, many of them are unique and the owners will put them into operation just for this occasion. For this year's anniversary, I have prepared a program full of personalities associated with the hillclimb.

Training starts at 9 am, the actual rides at 11 am, the event is expected to end around 4 pm. The vehicles will drive along Kociánka Street to Soběšice and return via Lesná (along Okružní Street) back to the Kociánka Center. Brno–Soběšice has become a nice tradition and lovers of transport history will see vehicles here in a quantity and quality that is not found anywhere else in our country. So don't forget - on Saturday, September 30, we will celebrate the festival of races on Kociánka together, scented with burnt castor oil.
